Why are these pairs priced higher than other pairs advertised by other websites?

Most Pairs That Are Sold By Others Are Young Pairs That Have Just Began Forming Into A Pair (or they are not actually paired off fishes at all). All Pairs Shown Here Are Bonded Proven Pairs (not forming pairs) That Have Spawned And Raised Fry In My Tanks. Pairs of Discus should be allowed to bond. This means that when a pair begins to form in a group tank they should be allowed to spawn with the group present before they are removed to a breeding tank or before the other fishes are removed. Doing this gives the young pair the chance to protect the eggs from the other fishes which makes for a well bonded pair. If the pair will protect the eggs from other fishes then the chances are better that they will not be egg eaters. In Nature Discus must guard their eggs and raise their young with many dangers present. The pairs shown below are all pairs that have raised their own fry. All my discus are fed a premium diet. Also, when you buy a pair from me you then have the benefit of my experience available to you.

Gold Pidgeon Bloods $650 plus shipping. Excellent Parents. Both parents fan, guard, and protect eggs and fry vigorously every time they raise a brood. All of my pairs from this brood of gold pigeon bloods display very similar (excellent) parental characteristics. Can you tell which one is the male? Answer at bottom of page.

Leopards $850 plus shipping. The male of this pair dosen't help much. After the fertilization he lets her do almost all of the work. If the eggs get ate, it's by him, not her, and he gets put out (of that tank) the next time (after fertilization) but still steps up to the plate readily when it's time to spawn again. The actual spawning is really where his primary interest lies, plus he likes to eat well - sounds very much like human males, dosen't it. You must help her feed the fry as soon as possible. They eat like pigs and will wear her out when she's doing it all alone.

Irredesent Red Turquois (High Fin) $400 plus shipping. 4 Years old. High egg counts. This pair has raised their fry but you'll make more $$$ using multiple discus nurserys with this pair. $500 includes nursery instructions and shipping in United States.

Checkerboards $700 plus shipping. I call the female (on right) "Four Spots" because of the 4 spots on her gills.

Answer:

The closest (the one to the right) gold pigeon blood shown above is the male. He will spike other fishes or your hand hard if they/you attempt to get close to the eggs. You'll notice, her speckling is lesser.
